About Tallgrass Financial Partners

Three partners, one office in Old Town, and a weekly forecast.

Tallgrass is a fractional CFO firm for owner-led Wichita companies. We work from the second floor of a restored brick warehouse at 317 N Rock Island St, Suite 210, Wichita, KS 67202, a short walk from the Old Town square.

The story

Started by a controller who kept getting the Thursday call.

Lena Lindqvist spent eleven years in finance at a Wichita aerospace supplier. When an OEM changed its build rate, she was the one who had to tell the owner what it meant for payroll in six weeks. Friends who ran other shops started calling her on Thursdays with the same question.

In 2017 she opened Tallgrass to answer it properly: a 13-week forecast, rolled forward every week, and a partner in the room once a month. Theo Banerjee joined from a regional bank\'s commercial lending team, which is why our lender packages read the way a credit officer reads. Simone Ward joined in 2019 to run the close, because a forecast is only as good as last month\'s numbers.

We keep the firm at three partners on purpose. Every client knows all three of us by name. The founding story and dates are illustrative for this concept site.

Founding Partner, Fractional CFO

Lena Lindqvist

Lena spent eleven years as controller and then finance director at a Wichita aerospace supplier before opening Tallgrass in 2017. She has sat across the table from lenders, OEM purchasing teams and two buyers. She leads exit readiness and writes the firm's Kansas incentive notes.

Partner, Forecasting and Lender Packages

Theo Banerjee

Theo built forecasting models for a regional bank's commercial lending team, so he knows what a credit officer reads first. He builds every 13-week model the firm runs and prepares the bank and SBA packages.

Leads 13-week forecasts, lender and SBA packages, covenant reporting.

How we fit in

Alongside your CPA and your banker, not instead of them.

We are not CPAs. We do not audit, review or prepare tax returns, we do not manage investments, and we do not value businesses.

With your CPA

  • A clean year-end file, closed and reconciled, in the format they ask for
  • Quarterly estimates based on the forecast, not last year
  • One contact for questions during the year, so they are not chasing your bookkeeper
  • Sales and use tax reviewed monthly by your controller

With your banker

  • Covenant calculations sent before they are due, with the working
  • Borrowing base certificates checked against the ledger
  • A package for the next request, built from the same model
  • Early warning when the forecast says a covenant will be tight

What we hold to
